Ministry of Digital Transformation inks memorandum with Japan: strengthening partnerships, fostering innovation, and promoting investment
Ukraine and Japan are embarking on a new phase of technological partnership and launching the Japan-Ukraine Initiative for Digital and Technological Cooperation. The relevant memorandum was signed by Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The new Japan-Ukraine platform will help launch joint projects in the fields of digital innovation and technology, attract investment, and build a systematic partnership between governments and the business sector.
“The launch of the Japan-Ukraine Digital Tech Cooperation Initiative marks a new phase in our partnership with the Government of Japan. It will combine the expertise of Japan’s tech sector with the resilience of Ukraine’s IT industry to create new joint projects. We are launching a platform where technology companies from both countries will exchange expertise, sign contracts, and scale digital solutions to the global level,” emphasized Oleksandr Bornyakov, Acting Minister of Digital Transformation.
Key Areas of Cooperation
The memorandum establishes a solid foundation for collaboration between IT companies, startups, investors, and the government.
Priority technology areas include:
- artificial intelligence;
- robotization and robotics;
- cybersecurity;
- unmanned systems;
- development of digital infrastructure and the IT industry.
“I am delighted that today we managed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation that outlines specific areas of bilateral cooperation for the development of digital and innovation sectors of Ukraine. We hope to further deepen the partnership between Japan and Ukraine in the digital sector and to work together to support Ukraine’s recovery and ensure its economic growth,” said Kenji Yamada, Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The initiative reinforces the intentions of Ukraine and Japan to develop a technological partnership. This opens up new opportunities for scaling businesses and strengthening the ecosystems of both countries.
