Ministry of Digital Transformation: Japan draws on the experience of the Diia and the Mriia platforms
Ukraine is sharing its six years of experience in creating a “state in a smartphone” with Japan. Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeria Koval visited Tokyo, where she spoke about the remarkably rapid digitalization of government services in Ukraine—a process that takes some countries decades—using the Mriia and Diia platforms as examples.
Why Ukraine’s Diia and Mriia are capturing the world
Millions of Ukrainians use the Diia platform because it not only allows them to securely store digitized personal documents but also provides access to a wide range of services, greatly simplifying registration on third-party platforms. Services like Online Marriage are a unique example of automation that makes complex processes seamless and instantaneous.
During meetings in Japan, Valeria Koval paid special attention to Mriia—an educational project that is constantly being improved. The project provides children with a digital personal educational space, a unique development algorithm, and the opportunity to choose a career path in the future.
Japanese colleagues from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Gakken, the major company in the education sector, are interested in adapting our educational experience, as Ukraine has demonstrated how digitalization can radically transform the quality of education.
Cooperation with Japan—a global leader in technology—will allow Ukraine to integrate the most advanced solutions into its digital services.
Sharing expertise on AI will help automate government services, making them even faster. Japan’s experience in registry management and the digital transformation of the economy will enable Ukrainian businesses to interact more easily with the Government and enter new markets.
The meetings were organized thanks to the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the Digital Agency of Japan.
