Ministry of Strategic Industries: Ukrainian and German companies to collaborate in defence technologies

Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, posted 14 April 2025 16:50

In the presence of Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, representatives of the Ukrainian company Frontline and the German company Quantum Systems signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining a strategic partnership in defence technologies.

It is worth noting that Quantum Systems already operates two facilities in Ukraine: an R&D centre and a drone servicing and development hub. The company plans to double its production this year. The signing of the Memorandum with the Ukrainian company marks another step towards deeper integration of the German company into Ukraine’s defence industry, the Minister highlighted.

“I am grateful to Quantum Systems for their interest in collaboration and their concrete steps and results. Our cooperation significantly strengthens the defence industry by introducing cutting-edge technologies and improving existing systems. I am pleased that Ukraine’s defence industry has such a strong and consistent partner. Our collaboration is mutually beneficial and highly effective. I am confident this will encourage other global defence companies to come and work in Ukraine, in partnership with our enterprises,” said Herman Smetanin.

The companies plan to cooperate on technological and industrial levels, scale up capabilities, develop joint R&D projects, and integrate Ukrainian defence technologies into the European defence-industrial base. Particular focus will be given to expanding production in Ukraine, implementing modern management systems, and localising component manufacturing in Europe.
