    Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, posted 21 January 2025 21:12

    The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development has drafted a procedure for public monitoring of drinking water.

    The relevant resolution was adopted today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. From now on, data on the state of water resources will be collected centrally through a single information platform moderated by the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

    "The new monitoring system will make it possible to more effectively monitor compliance with sanitary standards and identify potential pollution risks. The use of a special Platform for this purpose will increase the transparency of data and enable more convenient analysis. Ministries, agencies, and the RMA will have access to the Platform. This will ensure prompt resolution of problematic issues. In particular, when it comes to wastewater treatment, pollution minimisation, and ecosystem preservation," commented Kostiantyn Kovalchuk, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

    The procedure for state monitoring in the areas of drinking water, drinking water supply and sewerage provides for the following:

    • development and implementation of the Information and Analytical Platform to ensure collection, processing, analysis, storage, synthesis and analysis of information on the condition of centralised drinking water supply facilities, the state of wastewater systems, and possible emergencies at these facilities;
    • developing a unified approach to the collection, processing, storage, synthesis and analysis of this information;
    • obtaining an objective assessment of the quality of drinking water, centralised drinking water supply facilities, sewage systems, treated wastewater, reuse of treated wastewater and sewage sludge.

    The introduction of public monitoring of drinking water and drinking water supply and sewage will allow the authorities and local governments to receive up-to-date information.
