Ministry for Reintegration of Temporary Occupied Territories: The procedure for Ukrainians leaving the TOT without documents is simplified

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk chaired a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the protection of the rights of citizens who need assistance to return to Ukraine. The group was established a few days ago by order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and shall deal with the problems of obtaining or restoring documents of Ukrainian citizens who have left for third countries.

The essence of the problem is that our fellow citizens leave the TOT to the controlled territory, including through third countries. However, this is not easy to do if a person has lost his/her documents.

As it was noted at the meeting, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 57 and changes in the Procedure for crossing the border, citizens of Ukraine under the age of 18 are allowed to enter the territory of our state if they have a birth certificate. At the same time, the State Border Service independently enters data about a person into the database. Citizens over the age of 18 who have lost their documents will also be allowed to pass if they have a birth certificate. However, the identification of persons will be carried out when on the territory of Ukraine.

Moreover, the members of the working group decided to expand the powers of Ukrainian consulates in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Georgia, Estonia, and Latvia in order to simplify and speed up the procedure for issuing a temporary identity card for returning to Ukraine.
