The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRCRCS). It stipulates for leveraging financial assistance within the framework of the Prykhystok (Shelter) project. The funds will be used to compensate the expenses of citizens who sheltered internally displaced persons from among vulnerable categories of the population of Ukraine free of charge.
This was announced by the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov.
"Within the framework of the Memorandum, these international organizations will provide financial aid to Ukrainian citizens who sheltered forcibly displaced persons in their homes free. It is planned that each organization will mobilize UAH 200 million of direct monetary compensation for the provision of assistance. In such difficult times, this is essential support for Ukrainians," said the Minister Oleksii Chernyshov.
It should be noted that this financial aid can be used to cover the compensation of expenses until the end of 2023 in accordance with the Procedure approved by the Government.
It should be noted that on July 7, the Government approved the compensation of expenses for the temporary accommodation of IDPs in May - in the amount of UAH 137.5 million. Of these, about UAH 100.9 million will be paid at the expense of charitable associations and international organizations.
In general, more than UAH 247.4 million was allocated within the government program Prykhystok for partial compensation of utility costs to homeowners who sheltered displaced persons free of charge for March-May.
