Ministry of Culture intensifies financial support for the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio: Government adopts decision

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has passed a decision to reallocate part of the Ministry of Culture’s state budget expenditures for 2026.

The funds were allocated to support the activities of the State Enterprise “Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio.” As a result of the full-scale invasion, the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio found itself in difficult circumstances, including a decrease in the number of orders and activities in the pavilions. Consequently, the film studio has accumulated debt, which hinders its development and effective operations.

The amount of funding is UAH 29.4 million, which has been transferred from the strategic communications and information security program to the state film support program.

“From now on, the Film Studio will be capable of covering its current labor costs as of January 1, 2026, as well as utility and energy expenses, using budget funds, thereby enabling it to allocate no less than 90 percent of its own revenue, after paying taxes and fees, toward repaying the debt that arose as of April 1, 2026,” noted Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy of Ukraine and Minister of Culture of Ukraine.

The Government’s decision is aimed at ensuring the effective operation of the Film Studio under martial law in Ukraine.

This will help stabilize the film studio’s operations in order to ensure the proper preservation and study of the film heritage, as well as to promote Ukrainian cinema both in Ukraine and around the world.
