
Energy Ministers of Ukraine and Moldova discuss cooperation to ensure energy security of two countries
Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Junghietu.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of energy security of both countries, development of alternative gas supply routes, electricity supply, and integration of energy markets. The parties noted the need to coordinate cooperation with the EU.
The Moldovan side expressed interest in using Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to build up gas reserves to meet its national needs.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in the electricity sector and possible areas of Ukraine's assistance in ensuring electricity supply to Moldovan consumers. The parties stressed the importance of maintaining ENTSO-E limits for electricity imports to Ukraine and Moldova from European countries.
The counterparts noted their readiness to continue cooperation in the energy sector, in particular to achieve common goals of European integration.
