Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak held a meeting with the United States Senator Joni Ernst

Today, on February 18, a meeting between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and a US delegation led by US Senator Joni Ernst took place in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Both sides discussed bilateral cooperation in order to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability.

Stepan Poltorak briefed members of the American delegation on the results and further perspectives of the defense reform that is taking place in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The position remains principled on conducting fundamental reforms of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to develop modern operational capabilities to defend country and gain military criteria for NATO membership," Minister of Defense stressed, noting that the immutability of the Euro-Atlantic course of development of our state is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Senator Joni Ernst pledged continued support to Ukraine from both chambers of the American Parliament and readiness to introduce new bills that would strengthen Ukraine’s ability to resist Russian aggression.

Urgent issues related to the situation in the occupied Crimea and the East of Ukraine, a joint opposition to the hybrid Russian aggression were also discussed during the meeting.

Special attention was paid to the issues of reforming the defense procurement system for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and intensification of military-technical cooperation with the United States of America.
