On September 10, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Zagorodniuk held a meeting with the high-level strategic advisers of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Reforms Committee and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Andrii Zagorodniuk noted that a new Government has been formed and that provides the opportunity to start a vigorous modernization of the state and to activate transformation processes within the defense sphere.

"I have constant meetings with the President of Ukraine, and I have recently had a meeting with the Prime Minister, during which we discuss the necessary steps to strengthen the Armed Forces. Also, we have the full support of the Parliament, which is now ready to support our legislative initiatives", stressed Andrii Zagorodniuk.

"Ukraine’s strategic priorities remain unchanged - which are European and Euro-Atlantic integration", - the Minister of Defense of Ukraine added. "Defense policy will also base on these principles".

During the meeting, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine informed the foreign delegation on further MOD perspective reform directions, as well as the effective steps for transformations. The Minister also highlighted the main priorities that will serve as the basis for decision making.

"My key priority is military personnel. The value of their lives and respect for each of them, regardless of their ranks and positions", - emphasized Andrii Zagorodniuk. "The next priority is NATO standards, their implementation in all spheres of activity of the Ukrainian troops. And third is zero tolerance for corruption in the Army".

At the end of the meeting, Andrii Zagorodniuk expressed words of gratitude to the strategic advisers and partner countries they represent for their unwavering and consistent support for Ukraine and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation in the process of reforming of the defense agency.

In response, foreign advisers stressed on significant progress in reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2014 and reaffirmed their readiness for cooperation to further strengthen defense capabilities of Ukraine.
