Within the framework of a working trip to Norway as part of the Ukrainian Government delegation, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk met with Minister of Culture and Equality of Norway Trine Skei Grande.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the key areas of possible cultural cooperation between the two countries. Creative industries, which are currently gaining momentum in Ukraine, were identified as one of the promising areas for cooperation.
The parties also tackled prospect of development of cooperation between Ukraine and Norway in the cinema sector, in particular, regarding the possibilities of joint film production, as well as deepening of cooperation in the context of film business. The Minister of Culture of Ukraine, in particular, told that he had an opportunity to visit the northern part of Norway, the film studio "FilmCamp" located near Tromsø city, which is currently working together with the Odessa Film Studio prospects of cooperation.
The Minister of Culture expressed interest in establishing exchange programs of experience in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage objects, in particular, interesting wooden objects of cultural heritage of both countries - historically valuable unique wooden churches. In particular, noted that the cooperation of experts in the context of preservation of recently discovered historical artifacts in the center of Kyivv, on Poshtova Square could also be interesting for both countries.
"Cooperation of our scientific institutions could be quite interesting, because it allows to unveil at that long period of history that unites Ukraine and Norway," Yevhen Nyshchuk stressed.
Apart from that, the counterparts discussed issues related to book publishing, promotion of reading, translation activities. Trine Skei Grande shared the best practices of Norway in this area, and also confirmed her willingness to cooperate and share experiences. In particular, she invited the Culture Minister to the opening of the official stand of Norway within the framework of the International Frankfurt Book Fair, where Norway will be presented this year as a special guest.
The Minister of Culture of Norway placed a special emphasis on the willingness to cooperate in the field of culture both at the national level and in the context of cooperation between the separate institutions of the two countries.
