Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development: Spain donates 32 buses for Kherson region
By the end of this month, Kherson will receive 32 buses from Madrid. The donation is a humanitarian aid under the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
The buses were used for public transport in the Spanish capital. After technical inspection and stabilisation of the security situation, they will be put back on the road.
“25 buses have already arrived in Ukraine and are now on the city’s balance sheet. Ukraine is expecting another 7 buses from Spain in the coming days. The russian occupiers, fleeing the city, have in fact completely looted municipal property.
The Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development is working to ensure basic conditions for the residents of the liberated cities and is coordinating efforts between local authorities and international partners. Stable transport links and people’s mobility are among our priorities. I am grateful to our partners for their support of the Ukrainian people,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.

According to the Kherson City Military Administration, russian occupiers have stolen 37 public transport vehicles and damaged another 21 as a result of shelling.
The European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism is a solidarity system that provides emergency assistance to countries in crisis. Ukraine joined the EU Civil Protection Mechanism on April 20, 2023. The buses were delivered to Ukraine by the Polish Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves, Rządowa Agencja Rezerw Strategicznych (RARS).
