  • Ministry of Finance: Ukraine received EUR 2 billion of EU Macro-Financial Assistance

    Today, October 18, Ukraine received the first EUR 2 billion as part of the exceptional eighth program of Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) of the EU. The total amount of the program is EUR 5 billion.

    "Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has already received EUR 4.2 billion of Macro-Financial Assistance from the EU. I am sincerely grateful to our EU partners for the effective cooperation and systematic support. Concessional financing will help to support the Ukrainian economy and to ensure the financing of priority, in particular social and humanitarian, expenditures," said the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

    Loan funds will contribute to maintaining financial stability in Ukraine.

    Ukraine will receive the next tranches under the eighth program of the MFA by the end of 2022.

    On September 7, 2022, the European Commission announced the decision to allocate additional financial support resources to Ukraine by introducing a new EU Macro-Financial Assistance in the amount of EUR 5 billion. On October 3, the Parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding and the Loan Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union regarding the receipt of funds.
