Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak met with Pier Carlo, representative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Ukraine.
The parties discussed areas of cooperation for the implementation of restoration projects with a focus on the development of sustainable energy and renewable energy sources.
Particular attention was paid to solar generation projects, including the installation of solar panels in regions and individual cities.
Roman Andarak briefed the UNEP representative on the Government’s programmes to stimulate the development of renewable energy in Ukraine, as well as on cooperation programmes with international partners to install solar panels, in particular on public buildings and healthcare facilities.
“Renewable energy sources play an important role in balancing Ukraine’s energy system and increasing renewable energy capacity, which remains one of the key areas for strengthening our energy sustainability,” said Roman Andarak.
The parties discussed the areas and possible formats of cooperation, in particular within the framework of specialised international organisations, such as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and at the bilateral level.
Pier Carlo assured of the organisation’s readiness to support Ukraine in developing a comprehensive approach to the reconstruction of the energy sector and the implementation of a green transition.
