Ministry of Energy: Zaporizhzhia NPP is on the verge of blackout for the second time in a week due to russian shelling
As a result of the enemy shelling, one of the two power lines of the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP was cut off. Currently, the plant is connected to the Ukrainian power grid by only one power line.
If the latter line is disconnected, Zaporizhzhia NPP will face another complete blackout. This is a serious violation of safe operation conditions and threatens to lead to an accident.
"For the second time this week, Zaporizhzhia NPP faces a real threat of blackout as a result of shelling by russia. Today, the IAEA Board of Governors will meet in Vienna, and we insist on the immediate full implementation of the resolution to return the occupied plant under Ukrainian control. This is the only way to guarantee the safe operation of Zaporizhzhia NPP," said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
Power engineers will start restoring full power to the plant as soon as the security situation allows.
