Ministry of Economy and Finnish delegation discuss participation of Finnish companies in Ukraine’s recovery
On 27 November, First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev met with the Finnish delegation, which included Chief Executive Officer of the National Emergency Supply Agency Janne Känkänen, Executive Vice President for Operations of the National Emergency Supply Agency Jaakko Pekki and representatives of Destia, Nocca, Söderberg & Partners, Miltton Group.
“Finland has been playing an important role in supporting Ukraine since February 2022, having allocated EUR 3.1 billion in defence and humanitarian aid. Finland’s national plan includes participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine, and the Finnish development cooperation fund Finnfund is already investing in the private sector of Ukraine. We see the interest of Finnish companies in joining the reconstruction of Ukraine, so the Ministry of Economy is ready to provide all the necessary support for potential investors and companies to implement joint projects in the areas of energy efficiency, infrastructure, digital technologies, the agricultural sector and other priority sectors,” said First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev.
Representatives of the delegation noted that the issue of war risk insurance was a priority for many companies in Finland and praised the Ukrainian Government’s efforts to develop appropriate mechanisms. The meeting also discussed increasing the presence of Finnish companies in Ukraine in priority sectors such as energy, agriculture, IT, transport, green transition, critical materials, access to finance for SMEs, and the implementation of projects from the Single Project Pipeline.
In addition, Oleksii Sobolev presented the delegation with government support programmes for businesses and investors, including tax breaks and other incentives available to residents of industrial parks and projects with significant investments of more than EUR 12 million. He also called on Finnish companies to take part in a new call for projects under the Ukraine Investment Framework, announced for the EU private sector by the European Commission on 13-14 November during the EU-Ukraine Investment Conference.
