Ministry of Economy: State procures 50,000 drones for military via Prozorro Market
Over the past two years, state procurers have purchased 50,000 drones worth over UAH 6 billion through the Prozorro Market e-catalogue. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become one of the most popular categories in the system, with models such as Mavic, FPV, and Phantom being the most frequently selected for reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and combat missions.
Thanks to a wide range of products and competition among suppliers, state procurers have saved over UAH 300 million. These savings can be redirected to other priority needs, such as purchasing additional drones and equipment for the military.
“Prozorro Market has proven its effectiveness as a tool for fast and transparent procurement – not only for civilian needs but also for the defence sector. Over two years, the state has procured 50,000 drones for our defenders through the e-catalogue, saving over UAH 300 million. This is a real example of how public procurement supports defence capabilities,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Prozorro Market simplifies and accelerates drone procurement. Procurers no longer need to prepare technical specifications or vet suppliers, as this is handled by specialists from the state institution “Professional Procurement.” As a result, the procurement process takes an average of nine days – twice as fast as open tenders. In the context of a large-scale war, speed is critical.
Military units actively procure drones through Prozorro Market, leveraging their own budgets funded by personal income tax. Following legislative changes in 2024, local communities have also been permitted to purchase equipment based on requests from military units.
“We added drones to Prozorro Market because we knew they were needed urgently. This is a category that can be easily standardised, making procurement fast and convenient. In wartime, this is critical: the state must act swiftly. That’s why we continuously respond to requests and expand Prozorro Market. Today, the e-catalogue features around 200 drone suppliers, ensuring high competition and allowing procurers to obtain quality equipment at competitive prices,” said Yevhen Yakubovskyi, Director of the state institution “Professional Procurement.”
In addition to drones, the Prozorro Market e-catalogue offers tactical goggles, earphones, portable radios, repeaters, optical sights, night vision devices, and supporting equipment for UAVs. The range of products is constantly expanding based on military needs and market analysis.
