Ministry of Economy: The list of critical imports will change in favor of Ukrainian industry
At the beginning of russia's war against Ukraine, the Government approved a list of critical imports that the state needs in wartime. Its goal is to limit the export of currency and strengthen the economy.
Nowadays, the business is gradually resuming its activities. Therefore, the Government and the Ministry of Economy are in constant dialogue with entrepreneurs and are considering their requests to expand the list of critical imports. Its further expansion will depend on the stability of the state's financial system.
"The Government is pursuing industrial protectionism. It is a question of the maximum increase of domestic production and import substitution where it is possible. That is why we are meeting the needs of Ukrainian industry - we are working with industry associations and adjusting the list of critical imports, if we see that there is a need for this. Meanwhile, due to such regulation, we have prevented excessive leakage of currency from Ukraine, and, consequently, the weakening of the economy. In the future, the list of critical imports will change depending on how successfully we achieve a balance between foreign currency payments abroad and foreign exchange earnings. Ideally, these two indicators should be approximately equal,"said Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka.
