Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, posted 03 February 2021 11:00

On February 2, Deputy Ministers of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Oleksandr Romanyshyn took part in a public discussion of the National Economic Strategy 2030 titled “International Economic Policy and Trade, Export Credit Agency”. The event was attended by representatives of the Government, the Office of the President, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Center for Economic Recovery and experts.

Oleksandr Romanyshyn noted that currently, the Ministry is working with partners to update the Export Strategy of Ukraine, which should determine the main directions of Ukraine's export policy for the coming years. The Ministry of Economic Development focuses its main efforts in this vector on strengthening the interaction of institutions to support exports, expanding the tools of such support, in particular, ensuring access to financial resources.

Among the important steps to create a modern export support system is to ensure the full operation of the Export Credit Agency. Thus, ECA facilitates the entry of exporters into new markets, consolidating trade positions in existing traditional markets, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as creating and preserving jobs.

“In 2020, we carried out large-scale work on the formation of the regulatory framework of the Agency. In addition, a decision to increase the authorized capital of ECA up to UAH 2 billion is being prepared and to be adopted in the near future. All this will allow ECA to start working effectively and increase Ukrainian exports, enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian exporters, and support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises,” commented Oleksandr Romanyshyn.

Deputy Minister - Trade Representative Taras Kachka also stressed that the rules of international trade are evolving in the world and Ukraine must be ready for new challenges.

“The task of our economic diplomacy is to make the current change of rules comfortable for Ukrainian companies to work abroad. The new rules should not create another barrier between Ukraine and the world, but promote the economic development of our country,” said Deputy Minister - Trade Representative Taras Kachka.
