Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and Svidok platform collect evidence about the tragedy of Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam explosion a year ago and its aftermath today
On 6 June 2023, russia blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam, flooding dozens of homes and unique protected areas. We have set a goal to collect all the evidence of this heinous crime in order to bring the aggressor to justice.
We urge Ukrainians to join this work. You can leave your evidence on our EcoThreat resource or by sending a message to https://t.me/SvidokNoteBot. In SvidokNoteBot, you can also anonymously share your personal stories about the consequences of the environmental disaster.
The testimonies collected from Ukrainians will be added to the evidence that will be submitted to the International Criminal Court and disseminated abroad.
Background information
EcoZagroza (Eco Threat) is a web resource and mobile application created by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources at the beginning of russia's large-scale invasion, where anyone can report facts of environmental damage and receive up-to-date environmental information.
svidok.org is the main repository of war memories in Ukraine.
Work is currently underway to synchronise the two resources in terms of collecting and displaying information on environmental damage.
