The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has developed a concept for establishing a National Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), announced Minister Vitalii Koval.

“AKIS is a key driver of innovation in the EU’s agricultural sector, and we are implementing it in Ukraine. This is another step towards integration with the European system – not just on paper, but in practical work with farmers, researchers, and advisors,” the Minister stated.

Key components of the National Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System:

  • Farmer-centric approach. The system is designed to meet farmers’ needs, providing access to up-to-date agricultural information and facilitating the adoption of innovations.
  • Unified network. Farmers, advisors, researchers, educators, businesses, and civil society organisations will collaborate to create and disseminate knowledge for shared outcomes.
  • Eight regional AKIS hubs. These will serve as local centres for accessing knowledge, innovations, training, and consultations.
  • Access to European knowledge systems. Ukrainian farmers will benefit from the best practices, technologies, and experiences of EU countries.

“Without knowledge, there is no progress. Without innovation, there is no competitive agricultural sector. Ukrainian farmers must be not only resilient but also well-informed. We are already building a shared future with Europe, and farmers are key players in that future,” emphasised Vitalii Koval.
