First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maksym Martynyuk met with the World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen. The sides discussed implementation of the project " Speeding up investments in the Ukrainian agriculture ".
The meeting was attended by Sandra Brocka, Team Leader and Senior Economist for Agriculture Sandra Broca Kateryna Schroeder, Agriculture Economist, Food and Agriculture Global Practice, Denys Nizalov, advisor to the World Bank on land reform as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre.
"Some articles of the project require legislative regulation, but understanding the importance of cooperation with the World Bank and its subsequent influence on the economic and social sphere of Ukraine, the Government and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy are committed to spare no effort to implement the project according to the established deadlines," Maksym Martynyuk stressed.
According to the World Bank Country Director Satu Kahkonen the project is slated for February 2019.
The agricultural components of the project are the following harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the EU requirements, improvement of the system of state support for agriculture, stimulation of diversification of agricultural production, rural development, capacity building in food safety, logistical issues, land use improvement, water management improvement resources, improving access to agricultural resources, improving access to financial resources and risk management tools.
