The Government of Ukraine attaches great importance to the preparation and holding of forthcoming elections to the Verkhovna Rada at a high democratic level. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said during a meeting with the Head of the OSCE ODIHR EOM (Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election Observation Mission Albert Jónsson. The mission shall observe the preparation and holding of early parliamentary elections in Ukraine.
Mr Albert Jónsson comes from Iceland, had been working for many years in the Government of Iceland and has held diplomatic posts. In 2018, he was appointed the Head of the OSCE ODIHR Mission, in particular, he led the team to observe the holding of the presidential elections in Lithuania.
"It's a great inspiration for me to work in Ukraine", the diplomat said. "Your mission - the observation mission - is of the utmost importance", said Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in turn. "We attach great significance to the democratic elections. The presidential campaign has shown the world our openness and democracy. It is critical to ensure the parliamentary elections be held at the high level as well."
