During the Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport, Matvii Bidnyi met with the President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Witold Bańka.
During the meeting, the Minister thanked the global anti-doping community for supporting Ukraine and the solidarity project initiated by the WADA President to organise testing of Ukrainian athletes by foreign anti-doping organisations, which was very important in the context of preparing Ukrainian athletes for international competitions, especially the Olympic Games.
Matvii Bidnyi also expressed his gratitude to the WADA President for his principled position in condemning the actions of russia and belarus from the first days of russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine and stressed that the position of the Ukrainian side remained unchanged: athletes from the aggressor countries should be banned from international sport.
During the meeting, Matvii Bidnyi shared the results of the implementation of the national anti-doping policy, the achievements made after the adoption of the new anti-doping legislation and the reboot of the National Anti-Doping Centre.
Witold Bańka emphasised WADA’s continued support for Ukraine in implementing these reforms and expressed his solidarity with the Ukrainian sports community.
Matvii Bidnyi invited Witold Bańka to visit Ukraine in the near future.
