Maryna Lazebna met with the IOM Ukraine Chief of Mission

On April 22, 2022, a working meeting of the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna with the Anh Nguyen, Chief of Mission at International Organization for Migration (IOM) Ukraine was held.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of important issues on the priorities of social policy in martial law, key aspects of IOM's activities in Ukraine, the implementation of targeted support for socially vulnerable groups and outlined areas for future bilateral cooperation.

The Minister informed that today the work of the Ministry has three main priorities in helping people affected by the war: protection of the rights of Ukrainians who went abroad to escape the russian invasion; assistance to IDPs displaced by active hostilities; assistance to people in deoccupied cities who have not left their homes and survived the shelling and occupation.

The Chief  of the IOM Mission in Ukraine expressed sincere support to the Ministry and shared his experience in implementing assistance programs for affected citizens, including providing cash benefits to vulnerable groups, and expressed interest in promoting the technical equipment of local communities registering internally displaced persons.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to coordinate joint actions by concluding an additional protocol to the Agreement on Cooperation between the International Organization for Migration and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, signed on February 12, 2018.

exchange of information, statistical and analytical materials on the displacement of people as a result of hostilities (external and internal), as well as on people who did not leave occupied cities and places of active hostilities, paying special attention to people with disabilities, elderly lonely people, families with several children;

supporting the communities that host the largest number of IDPs with computer equipment to equip additional jobs;

implementation of joint programs to support target groups of affected Ukrainians;

joint work to combat trafficking in human beings and children as a result of their emergency mass evacuation from areas of hostilities and illegal forced relocation to the territory of the russian federation.
