Funding in the amount of UAH 1,000 will be paid to all vaccinated on virtual payment cards through the Diia, says Denys Shmyhal
The weekly COVID-19 vaccination average in Ukraine remains at the level of over 1.5 million. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated during a regular meeting of the Government on November 17.
In order to maintain a high rate of vaccination and further motivate people to get inoculated, according to him, it was decided to pay UAH 1,000 to all fully vaccinated citizens.
"This initiative of the President of Ukraine will also allow supporting small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine that have suffered due to the pandemic," the Prime Minister stressed.
According to the Head of Government, funds to the tune of UAH 1,000 will be transferred to virtual payment cards through the Diia. They can be spent on tickets to the cinema, theater or concert, sports, travel to Ukraine by train or plane, and so on.
"Approximately 6,000 businesses across the country will have a chance to participate in the program. It will start operating on December 19 and will run this year and until the end of next year," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister noted that UAH 3 billion would be allocated for the program this year and another UAH 3 billion - at the beginning of next year with a possible scaling up of funding. According to him, no taxes will be charged on the sum of UAH 1,000. These funds will in no way affect the receipt of the subsidy.
