On January 18, the Ukrainian delegation headed by acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maxym Martyniuk with Ministers of Agriculture of the European countries - Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Georgia, Latvia. Meetings were held within the framework of the International Green Week-2019 (IGW) in Berlin, Germany.
"IGW is a unique platform for intergovernmental networking, opportunity to check the benchmarks and trends with our European partners and, to outline the directions of industry development," the Minister said.
In the course of a meeting with Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, the sides agreed to hold the fifth meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish working group on agriculture, the last one of which was held in 2016. Also, the sides discussed cooperation in the field of veterinary, seed production, organic production.
Maxym Martyniuk and Giedrius Surplys, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania took a stock of cooperation in the areas identified by the Ukraine-Lithuania Bilateral Cooperation Program for 2017-2019 in the field of agro-industrial complex.
At a meeting with Tarmo Tamm, Minister of Rural Affairs of the Republic of Estonia the Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude for the support provided in reforming and improving the fisheries management system of Ukraine and readiness for further active cooperation in this direction. Joint discussions on the development of the dairy sector were also held.
According to the results of the meeting with István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, the parties agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Hungarian working group on agriculture in June. Areas of cooperation encompass trade, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, quarantine and plant protection, land relations, seed production and plant breeding, horticulture and viticulture, fisheries, scientific research.
In the course of a meeting with Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia the parties shared experience in introducing the latest technologies in the land registration system, conducting state land register, conducting electronic auctions and providing administrative services.
Following the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Jānis Dūklavs, the sides decided in addition to the areas on which cooperation is already established, to focus on the issues of advisory development.
