On 9 January, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko met with Kate Fearon, OSCE Acting Secretary General, Petr Mareš, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship – Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, and Pierre Baussand, Chief of Operations of the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation between Ukraine and the OSCE, including the activities of the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine and future priorities.
During the meeting, the Government Commissioner stressed the importance of involving OSCE representatives in the development of the National Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” for 2026-2028, as well as joining and cooperating within the Alliance for Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Recovery, and preparing and holding joint events during the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Kate Fearon noted that a gender lens was applied to all areas of the OSCE’s work.
The future support programs for Ukraine were discussed, focusing on combating violence and supporting women’s leadership in peacebuilding and reconstruction efforts, based on the principles of a gender mainstreaming approach.
