The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, pursuant to the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commences the process of creating the Ministry for Veterans Affairs on the basis of the already existing State Service of Ukraine for War Veterans and Anti-Terrorist Operation Participants. The new Ministry will become the central executive body, which ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of social protection of veterans and combatants.

According to the plan, the process of establishment of the Ministry will last a month.

Background 

Social protection of veterans, participants of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas, as well as activists of the Revolution of Dignity are on the list of key areas for the Government. According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, the Government sees paying due respect to the people who defend the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as it’s the most important social duty.
