Iceland has transferred more than EUR 2 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing the country’s total contribution to the Fund to more than EUR 5.6 million.

Earlier, in 2023-2024, Iceland made four tranches of contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. These funds were used to purchase the necessary equipment for the fuel and energy sector enterprises in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

“Every contribution of our partners to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund is very important. The funds are used to purchase equipment that helps power engineers restore what was destroyed by the enemy and bring light and heat back to Ukrainian homes. We are grateful to Iceland for its support and another contribution to Ukraine’s energy sustainability,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 on the joint initiative of Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson under the Energy Community Secretariat.

So far, the announced contributions of partners to the Fund have exceeded EUR 1 billion. The Fund’s donors include the public and private sectors from more than 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as international and regional organisations.

Since its inception, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to restore energy facilities after russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities.
