  • Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk appointed Head of Coordination Headquarters for the protection of children’s rights under martial law

    This decision was made today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Coordination Headquarters was established in March last year to coordinate the actions of executive authorities and local self-government bodies in protecting children’s rights under martial law.

    The Government has expanded the list of functions of the Coordination Headquarters. From now on, the body:

    • coordinates the actions of the authorities to facilitate integration of children evacuated from dangerous territories of Ukraine at their new place of residence;
    • monitors the observance of the rights of internally displaced children;
    • coordinates measures for the return to the territory of Ukraine of children forcibly displaced to the temporarily occupied territory or the territory of russia or other countries.

    “It is important that our children are safe after evacuation from the war zones. They must be provided with proper living, educational and psychological rehabilitation conditions. In addition, many children were forcibly deported by the aggressor. In this regard, the Ukrainian authorities must establish a clear mechanism of cooperation for their immediate return. All institutions from the local level to the level of international organizations should be involved in this process. This is exactly what the Coordination Headquarters will focus on,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
