  • Iryna Vereshchuk: State should support development of rehabilitation centres for military and veterans

    The state’s task is to promote the development of rehabilitation centres for the military and veterans. This was stated by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, at a meeting on veterans’ policy. The meeting raised the issue of allocating funds this year for the development of rehabilitation centres.

    In particular, the participants discussed the next steps in the implementation of the following projects:

    • completion of a branch of the Halychyna Centre for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities;
    • continuation of the construction of the building of the treatment and rehabilitation centre for war veterans and internally displaced persons at the Rivne Regional Hospital.

    The issues of funding from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression to complete the construction of these rehabilitation centres are currently being agreed upon.

    A 4-storey inpatient unit with an admission and diagnostic department is already under construction at the Rivne hospital.

    “We need to quickly build up an efficient network of rehabilitation centres. The centres that already show high quality indicators and have the necessary material and technical base should be taken as a basis. Most importantly, they have qualified staff. We need to strengthen such institutions as this will have a multiplier effect in the near future,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
