  • We must ensure decent conditions in the places of temporary residence of IDPs, says Iryna Vereshchuk

We must ensure decent conditions in the places of temporary residence, said Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, during a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of IDPs.

The meeting's participants discussed the implementation of Resolution No. 930 "Some issues of functioning of temporary accommodation places for internally displaced persons".

"Temporary accommodation places should provide IDPs with decent and safe conditions, especially regarding persons with disabilities, the elderly and children," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The team of the Ministry for Reintegration together with representatives of regional military administrations have developed an algorithm of cooperation for prompt communication and resolution of all urgent issues. The RMAs are already providing information on the need for repairs at the places of temporary accommodation to bring them into proper condition.

Among other things, they have agreed with international organisations to analyse and monitor the needs for repairs and arrangement of the places of temporary accommodation.

"Creating an effective system for providing IDPs with housing is critical before the winter. That is why we are working together to ensure that people have a comfortable stay in temporary housing," summarised Iryna Vereshchuk.
