  • Iryna Vereshchuk: Together with European partners, we must focus on providing housing for people and creating new jobs

    On June 9, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk met with EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič.

    In addition to discussing the current state of affairs in Ukraine, the officials agreed to intensify the processes of practical assistance to our country from the European Union.

    According to Janez Lenarčič, today the EU provides unprecedented humanitarian aid of over EUR 200 million.

    Meanwhile, Iryna Vereshchuk drew the attention of Western partners to the fact that now is the time to move from emergency assistance to system processes.

    First of all, it is a comprehensive solution to the issues of providing housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the organization of new jobs in Ukraine. In this direction, priority is given to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, which should revive the country's economy.

    Also during the meeting, the officials agreed with the mediation of international organizations to increase pressure on russia to create humanitarian corridors from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
