Institutional reform is an important step towards Ukraine’s NATO membership, says Deputy Minister of Defence Stanislav Haider
Deputy Minister of Defence Stanislav Haider met with Head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine Karen McTear in Kyiv.
Stanislav Haider thanked for the assistance provided by the Alliance and its member states to Ukraine in its fight against russian aggression.
“At the frontline, Ukraine is actually defending not only itself, but also all democratic countries in the region,” said the Deputy Minister of Defence.
He noted that full membership in the Alliance was Ukraine’s goal, as NATO was the most reliable guarantee of security in the future.
“The Ministry of Defence demonstrates progress in reforms, in particular, we are actively implementing the adapted Annual National Programme,” said Stanislav Haider.
The Deputy Minister noted that one of the key areas of the Ministry’s development was building a strong and transparent institution as a coordinator of the defence forces.
“Institutional reform is a step towards Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” said Stanislav Haider.
He added that the Ministry was also improving the process of obtaining international military assistance with the strategic goal of becoming a reliable partner for its foreign allies.
