“Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is only carrying out operational demining so that our citizens can return to their homes. We are also demining the areas under power lines and roads in the de-occupied territories. We do it every day,” said Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, during the national telethon.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has 210 demining squads, comprising 1,100 people. A total of 1,900 deminers have been trained so far. There are also plans to train at least 1,000 more deminers over the next year.

“At the same time, I would like to say that we are currently using 350 pieces of specialised equipment, but as more de-occupied areas emerge that need to be demined, we will need more people and equipment, so any international support is essential. That is why we are already making calculations together with our international partners, so that they know exactly what kind of assistance Ukraine needs to demine our land as soon as possible,” the Minister said.
