Ihor Klymenko: Together with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the process of creating a selection system for senior positions in the National Police has begun

Today, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko held a meeting with Joshua Temblador, Chief of INL Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, and Travis Brooks, DEA Attaché at the Embassy.

The main focus was on the transparent and high-quality selection of the National Police leaders at all levels.

The task is to modernise the criteria and requirements for taking up a leadership position, to clearly define the timeframe and responsible authorities that will conduct the verification of the candidate. And this check should be comprehensive. It should take into account all areas of a person's life, background and reputational risks.

"We do not have high expectations. Certainly, we will not change the situation dramatically in a few months. But we have already launched the transformation mechanism," the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine wrote on his official Telegram channel.

The State Emergency Service will be the next to implement the selection system after the National Police.
