The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, held an online meeting with the Minister of the Interior of Finland, Mari Rantanen.

“We discussed the most important thing – protecting people. The Ukrainians currently living in Finland, and those who face the daily threat of attacks here in Ukraine. Finland is our reliable partner. We noted positive progress in cooperation between our police and border services, as well as in civil protection: material and technical assistance and exchange of experience,” stated Ihor Klymenko.

According to him, the Minister of the Interior of Finland confirmed that a new aid package is being prepared for Ukrainian rescuers to enhance their capacity to operate in emergency conditions. This is particularly crucial at a time when russia deliberately targets civilian infrastructure on a daily basis.

“And at the end of November, we have an important joint step ahead. Together with our Finnish counterparts, we will launch the practical phase of the Shelters Coalition in Kyiv. This is about the safety of every individual. About what saves lives,” emphasised the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Ihor Klymenko stressed that Finland is an example of a country that has systematically built a network of shelters and bunkers over decades. And today, Ukraine adopts this experience. Because the enemy is shared: an aggressive neighbour that poses a threat to everyone who has chosen freedom.

“Thank you, Minister Rantanen, for the partnership, support, and understanding that people’s safety comes above all,” concluded Ihor Klymenko.
