Ihor Klymenko: We plan to increase the number of deminers to 2,800

It is planned to increase the number of deminers to 2,800. This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko in an interview with a news agency.

He noted that there were about 2,000 deminers in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“This includes the State Emergency Service, the National Police and the National Guard. We plan to increase their number to 2,800,” the Interior Minister said.

He also reminded that the State Emergency Service had an Interregional Centre for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response.

“Among other things, deminers are trained there. Over the past year, we have already trained almost 1,000 demining specialists,” said Ihor Klymenko, adding that over the two years of full-scale war, the Ministry of Internal Affairs had already discovered and destroyed more than 780,000 explosive devices.
