On 13 August, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk paid a working visit to Odesa region.
The agenda included humanitarian response, preparation for the winter period, and support for internally displaced persons and veterans.
During the working visit, the Deputy Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Coordination Centre for Civilian Support at the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the regional military administration, heads of district military administrations, heads of territorial communities, and representatives of international humanitarian organisations. The event was also attended by the head of the regional IDP Council and representatives of NGOs.
In particular, the participants discussed preparations for the winter, humanitarian response and support for IDPs. Particular attention was paid to temporary housing for IDPs. Cooperation between communities and international donors was also discussed.
In addition, in Odesa region, Iryna Vereshchuk visited internally displaced persons living in a dormitory set up on the basis of a children’s boarding school. She also visited the veterans’ hub in Odesa, which operates on the basis of the city’s Administrative Service Centre. There, the official spoke with veterans about the work of the “single window” service.
The Deputy Prime Minister also held a meeting on veterans’ policy in Odesa.
The participants heard information about the creation of structural units for veterans’ policy at the regional and local levels. They also discussed the arrangement of veterans’ spaces in communities.
Iryna Vereshchuk called on the heads of the region and communities to focus on creating veteran hubs and implementing a “single window” for veteran administrative services.
