The Government has allowed the money raised to the account of the Ministry of Economy through the UNITED24 fundraising platform to be used to pay for humanitarian demining services. The relevant amendments to the Procedure for Using Funds From the Account of the Ministry of Economy to Finance Humanitarian Demining were adopted during today’s meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“The adopted amendments will primarily allow us to open targeted fundraising on the UNITED24 platform for community demining. We are giving our friends and partners the opportunity to choose what they want to finance as a priority: the purchase of demining vehicles, equipment or to allocate money for the Centre for Humanitarian Demining to pay for the clean-up of sites,” said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy.
The amendments allow the Centre for Humanitarian Demining to apply to the Ministry of Economy for the use of funds accumulated in the account of the Ministry of Economy and collected through UNITED24 for demining.
As of January, the Ministry of Economy had almost UAH 53 million in the account of the UNITED24 platform. In total, about UAH 200 million has been raised so far. These funds were used to purchase a heavy-duty demining machine, three light-duty demining machines and two tractors for the State Emergency Service. The State Special Transport Service received Trembita metal detectors, 400 protective visors and aprons, and a heavy DOK-ING MV-10 demining machine purchased with co-financing.
