Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko held a meeting to consider problematic issues of state-owned coal mining enterprises. The event was attended by the heads of mines, trade union organizations of miners, as well as MPs of Ukraine, who are members of the relevant parliamentary committee.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of the coal mining enterprises, in particular their financial and material support, as well as the peculiarities of their activities in wartime.
German Galushchenko stressed that over the past three months the energy facilities of Ukraine had been subjected to daily shelling by the enemy. Therefore, the situation in the coal industry, as well as in the energy sector in general, is quite difficult.
He stressed that given the destruction caused, in particular to thermal generation facilities, the calculations for the balance and consumption of coal were adjusted based on the results of November and December 2022.
"Now the main task is to pass the autumn-winter heating period. However, the load on thermal generation will remain throughout the year. The russians occupied our largest nuclear power plant - ZNPP, in addition, because of them we lost about 90% of wind generation and up to 40% of solar generation. Thus, thermal generation will bear a significant load," German Galushchenko said.
"This and the next heating seasons we will live at the expense of our own production. And this is a fact that must be accepted and further plans must be based on it", the Minister of Energy summed up.
The Minister supported a number of initiatives of the participants of the meeting to assist coal industry enterprises during martial law.
