
German Galushchenko discuss support for the Ukrainian energy sector with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan
Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko held a bilateral meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Fujii Hisayuki. The parties met on the sidelines of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Summit on the Future of Energy Security, which is taking place in London.
The Minister of Energy thanked the Government of Japan for its assistance in overcoming the consequences of russian attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, provided through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Among the important equipment provided by the partners are transformers, gabions, gas turbines, high-voltage equipment, vehicles and computer equipment. German Galushchenko briefed his colleague on the current needs of the Ukrainian fuel and energy sector.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the hydropower and nuclear sectors. The importance of ensuring nuclear and radiation safety and the threats posed by russia's occupation of Zaporizhzhia NPP and the aggressor's attacks on substations critical to Ukrainian nuclear power plants were emphasised.
Particular attention was paid to deepening cooperation in the field of technology and attracting Japan's best practices in this area to the process of restoring and developing the Ukrainian energy sector.
