During his working visit to Washington, D.C., Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with World Bank Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region Antonella Bassani and WB Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe Arup Banerji.

The parties focused on cooperation in the implementation of the projects on restoration of energy supply in winter and energy resources supply (RePoWER), as well as projects to strengthen the electricity transmission system and install hybrid power generation systems at Ukrhydroenergo.

"We are grateful to the World Bank for the long-term cooperation and successful implementation of projects aimed at developing the Ukrainian energy sector and integrating our power system with the European one. Due to the war, we have faced new challenges that require not only restoration but also modernisation of the Ukrainian energy sector with the introduction of the most advanced technologies. I strongly believe that we will manage to achieve significant success in this area with the support of the World Bank," said German Galushchenko.

The parties also discussed the importance of continuing cooperation and further steps to attract private sector and capital to projects to decentralise generation, strengthen the resilience of the power system and enhance energy security.
