During a working visit to Vienna, where a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors is taking place, Minister of Energy German Galushchenko held a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

German Galushchenko thanked the IAEA for its cooperation and efforts in monitoring the situation at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, transmission system operator substations, and ensuring nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine amid russian military aggression.

The discussion also focused on projects for the development of nuclear energy in Ukraine in collaboration with the IAEA, which will be presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.

A key agenda item was the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. During the talks, both sides confirmed a shared understanding that the plant cannot be restarted due to the complete absence of international nuclear and radiation safety standards.
