  • Prime Minister: We make the administrative and territorial structure effective in line with the present-day needs of the territories

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine endorsed a draft law that defines clear procedures for resolving issues of administrative and territorial structure.

"Throughout all the years of independence, Ukraine was guided by the archaic decree of 1981 of the already non-existent Ukrainian SSR. We are rectifying this shameful situation! The Government has approved a bill that captures clear procedures for resolving administrative issues. I emphasize that we determine the procedures, we do not change the real administrative organization", Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk stressed.

The draft law regulates issues related to formation, liquidation, establishment and territorial changes of administrative-territorial units, settlements, and their classification into certain categories. Adoption of the document will increase the capacity of consolidated communities, create conditions for improving the quality and accessibility of public services. This, in turn, will increase the comfort of living conditions.

The Government continues to work thoroughly on shaping the legislative framework and wrapping up the reform of local government and territorial organization of authority.
