Attempts to abolish the current law on lustration and purge of power are the violation of the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and all the Ukrainians who died during the war with Russia, as well as the slap in the face of those who continue to defend peace in the east of our country now. This was written by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on his Facebook page.
"The law on lustration was one of the main requirements of the Revolution of Dignity. The people demanded to dispose the government of Yanukovych’s associates – and for that, in particular, Ukrainians shed their blood in the Maidan events throughout the country", stressed Volodymyr Groysman. "The first post-revolutionary Government developed and introduced the relevant law. It is unaffordable to abolish that."
The Prime Minister called on all branches of power to prevent lustration processes to be curtailed. Separately, the Head of Government appealed to the Parliament with a request to consider bill No. 2695, which had been drafted by the Government together with experts, public activists and MPs four years before. It stipulates for the improvement of the Lustration Law and compliance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
"This step will make it impossible to review and cancel lustration processes. And the current Parliament is capable of adopting this law", wrote Volodymyr Groysman.
