Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman called it the direct and unconditional responsibility of the gas monopolist Naftogaz of Ukraine to ensure the transit of gas to European consumers after 2020, as well as the increase of domestic gas production to achieve energy independence. The Head of Government said in Poltava. Volodymyr Groysman reminded that the day before Ukraine had held the first transparent contests for the development of new gas fields, the state-run company Ukrgazvydobuvannia and foreign companies winning the competition. The projected volume of investment in this area will make up about $ 500 million.

And now it is critical not to lose the momentum.

"NJSC Naftogaz used to fail the gas production program 2020, approved by the Government. They had inefficiently built their own strategy, and now there is a problem. But competition on the market (due to contests) will allow us to achieve progress fast", said Volodymyr Groysman. "As for the leadership of the NJSC, I don’t engage in discussions with them. They are quite cynical monopolist, we have different values. I made them in May and in the coming months to lower gas prices for the population. They should continue to do so. I also offer that they return the bonuses - it would be fair. They are working to line their pockets, hence we must put an end to that. Their obligation is to ensure transit and boost fuel production."
