  • Prime Minister about further fight against smuggling: We eradicate gray schemes amid pressure and hurdles
Information and Communication Department of the Secretariat of the CMU, posted 23 August 2018 13:16

The fight against smuggling at the border is under way, it yields results and will be continued, despite the pressure and efforts to halt these processes launched under the government initiative "Ukraine without smuggling".  Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said in his communication with media outlets in Lutsk within the framework of the working visit to Volyn region.

"I have publicly stated that together with the State Fiscal Service (SFS), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police we embarked on  fighting smuggling - in order to stop the import of goods under gray schemes. The fight has started. It is not easy for us, because some crooked officials are  still working  at these structures, the Prime Minister claimed. - I will defend the leadership of the customs and SFS which kicked off a real fight against smuggling".

The Head of the Government stressed that in July, additional revenues from customs made up UAH 6.2 billion. These funds were directed to the budget and allocated for the social programs.

"We halted the illegal activities of the two powerful clusters involved in all smuggling schemes in Ukraine. It is a constant fight  in which we must win. I stick to this position. And it is very good that there are such officials as Myroslav Prodan (SFS Chairman) who said that he would fulfill this task as a task of honor, despite the fact that he and his relatives are already under pressure", Volodymyr Groysman emphasized.

The Head of Government also drew attention to the fact that within a month the SFS will unveil the results of investigations on forest smuggling- with names and ranks. At the moment, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Audit Service of Ukraine are instructed to fully support the investigation carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) forces on the facts provided by the State Fiscal Service concerning the smuggling of other goods - primarily the containers of businessmen Aminiev-Serdyuk that were arrested at  Odessa custom.

"There is a lot of important information which we will make public. I commissioned the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Audit Service, and the State Fiscal Service to facilitate the investigation being conducted by NABU. We will submit the materials on the results of this investigation to the Anticorruption Court.  We are fighting for Ukraine".
