Any political interest can not be uppermost than the interest of citizens, says Prime Minister at the opening of Parliament's new session
Any political interest can not be higher than the interests of citizens and the state, and any decisions that will be taken in the coming months must be in line with the principles of openness and truthfulness. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman made this statement while delivering a speech at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the occasion of the opening of a new parliamentary session.
"The new session encompasses new opportunities and new challenges. I want to thank for the fruitful previous sessions when we were able to find an understanding and make a decision. This session is incredibly important in a view of the pre-election period. The election campaign will certainly have an impact on the quality of decision-making and life of the country. But any political interest can not be higher than the interests of citizens and the state ", Volodymyr Groysman stated.
He stressed that this interest should be at the bedrock of any work. And it must become a priority- despite the desire of " those who want to destabilize the situation." "We will confront populism along with the struggle, we will witness political cynicism, but people feel when politicians try to impose what they do not intend to do, the Prime Minister said. - The Government's task is to do everything within the limits of powers and capabilities. We can do it together - with the President and the Parliament. We have to prove that we can succeed on the final straight ahead of new competitions. "
The Head of Government presented his vision of core objectives. Among them- to enshrine in law the course towards membership in the European Union and NATO as well as to formalize in legislation the greetings "Glory of Ukraine" written by the blood of Ukrainian soldiers and which became words of honor and valor. The economic changes in view of further improvement of the business climate, the growth of industrial production, and the reduction of debt burden are in the focus as well.
"We also facing some challenges. So we have certain threats to continue decentralization reform. The Parliament should respond to the demand for further improvement of the legislation and give a new breath to the reform. This is a solid step aimed at supporting consolidated communities. Elections can not jeopardize another issue- the state budget approval. The budget must be balanced, fair and realistic. We will be responsible for any figure in the draft. We are able to take responsible decisions, and they will have a positive impact on the lives of citizens", the Prime Minister stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman placed an emphasis on the fact that ahead is adoption of tough decisions. "But we must think about people. Future elections will become a test of honesty, truthfulness, openness and ability to make sound political decisions ", he added.
